The data controller is Luxury Car France, the brand under which luxurycarrentalfrance.com operates our network of local rental partners across six French destinations. When you use the enquiry form, we collect your name, email address, and, if you choose to give them, your phone number, the car you are interested in, your start and finish locations, your pick-up and drop-off dates, a flight number if you are booking airport delivery, and any free-text message you write. The form also sends us the page URL and referrer so we understand which page you contacted us from.

If you contact us by email or phone instead, we collect whatever details you share with us in that conversation.

If you tap a WhatsApp button on the site, we record the click in our booking system before WhatsApp opens: the page URL, the referrer, the language of the page, and the prefilled message text. The conversation that follows happens inside WhatsApp itself.

Our servers also keep standard technical logs for every visit: IP address, time of the request, page requested, and browser information.

We use enquiry and contact details to answer your question, prepare a written quote, and, once you confirm in writing, to manage your booking. This is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and then to perform that contract.

We use WhatsApp click records and server logs to understand and secure how the site is used, which is our legitimate interest in keeping the service reliable and safe.

Where a booking is confirmed, we also process data to meet our legal and tax obligations, such as keeping accounting records.

Once a rental is confirmed, the local partner handling your car will ask you to present your driving licence and an identity document at handover. This is necessary to check that you are legally entitled to drive the vehicle, to prepare the rental agreement, and to protect the car against misuse. These documents are checked and recorded by the local partner as part of performing the rental contract with you.

Your data is accessible to our own team, who use an internal messaging tool to receive enquiries quickly from our booking system so we can reply without delay.

If you confirm a booking, we share the details needed to carry it out, including your licence and ID information collected at handover, with the local partner operating in the city where you are picking up the car.

Our website is hosted by a hosting provider that stores the site's files and the server logs described above.

If you start a conversation with us through WhatsApp, that conversation is handled by WhatsApp, operated by Meta, under WhatsApp's own privacy policy, which applies to anything you send through that channel.

A small number of outside services are loaded by the website to make it work properly, and each of them receives the visitor's IP address when that happens: Google Fonts supplies the typefaces used on the site, the intl-tel-input library loaded from the jsDelivr CDN powers the phone-number field in our forms, and the destinations map on our homepage loads the Leaflet library from unpkg.com together with map tiles from CARTO, based on OpenStreetMap data. None of these providers sets cookies on our behalf.

Some of these providers, and WhatsApp/Meta when you choose to message us there, may process data on servers located outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, it results from using these widely used, specialised services rather than from any transfer we organise ourselves, and it is limited to the technical information described above.

We do not set cookies through the website itself. Two small items are kept in your browser's own storage: one remembers that you have closed the cookie notice, and the other temporarily remembers which car you clicked on so that the enquiry form can be prefilled for you; this second item is deleted as soon as you close the tab or send the form. Neither of these items contains your name, contact details, or any other personal information.

If your enquiry does not turn into a booking, we delete it after 24 months. If it does, we keep the booking record, including the details shared with the local partner, for as long as French tax and accounting rules require us to retain such records. Server logs are kept only for a short period, long enough to serve their security purpose.

We store enquiry and booking data in our own booking system and limit access to our team and to the local partner handling a confirmed rental. Server logs are used only for security monitoring. We do not sell your data to anyone, and we do not share it beyond what is described in this policy.

Under the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act (Loi Informatique et Libertés), you have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to ask for a copy of it in a portable format where that applies.
